Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a term used to describe a group of lung diseases. They involve impaired airflow in and out of the lungs. Chronic bronchitis and emphysema are the two most important COPD conditions. Women are more often affected by chronic bronchitis, while men are more often affected by emphysema.
